Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS)
Київський міжнародний інститут соціології (КМІС) · also KIIS, КМІС
Ukrainian polling institute founded in 1990 that runs regular omnibus surveys; a 2023 New York Times article described it as one of Ukraine's leading pollsters.
KIIS was founded in 1990 as a research centre of the Sociological Association of Ukraine and in 1992 became a Ukrainian-American research company through a partnership with Paragon Research International. Its work covers social, economic, marketing, political and health research, and it runs regular omnibus surveys; English Wikipedia lists Volodymyr Paniotto as general director.
The limits of wartime polling are worth noting. In its April 20–27, 2026, telephone survey, Forbes Ukraine reported, the sample excluded residents of occupied territories and citizens who had gone abroad, and KIIS warned that wartime conditions may add systematic bias on top of sampling error. That survey found that the share opposed to handing over all of Donetsk Oblast in exchange for security guarantees fell from 62% in early March to 57%.
