Operation Midas
Операція «Мідас» · also Midas, Mindichgate
Energy-sector corruption case announced by Ukraine's National Anti-Corruption Bureau in November 2025, alleging that contractors of the state nuclear operator Energoatom were forced to pay 10–15% kickbacks and that about $100 million was laundered.
NABU said its 15-month investigation found a group of "shadow managers" who had infiltrated the state nuclear operator Energoatom and demanded kickbacks of 10–15% of contract value from contractors, who otherwise risked blocked payments or losing supplier status, a practice known internally as the "barrier". The laundered sum was estimated at about $100 million. The government proposed sanctions against Timur Mindich, a long-time friend and former business partner of President Zelensky, and suspended Justice Minister Herman Halushchenko, a former energy minister.
The case reached the president's inner circle. On November 28, 2025, Andriy Yermak, head of the President's Office, resigned after his home was searched; on May 11, 2026, anti-corruption prosecutors accused him of laundering more than Hr 460 million through a luxury housing project outside Kyiv. The Kyiv Independent reported that nine suspects had by then been charged in the Energoatom case, calling it the biggest corruption investigation of Zelensky's tenure.
